Ezio Manzini is considered one of the most influential thinkers in contemporary design. For the past three decades, he has focused his career on sustainable design and social innovation. He founded DESIS, a network of design schools focused on social innovation and sustainability. He is currently its president and an honorary professor at the Politecnico di Milano. He has taught at several global institutions and has published several works, “Politics of the Everyday” (2019), “Livable Proximity” (2021), and “Plug-ins: Design City Making in Barcelona” published in 2023.

The Aragonese Superior School of Art and Design (ESDA), in Zaragoza, Spain, is hosting for the first time the “ESDA Social Design Days”. The event focused on reflecting on educational interventions and experiences on Social Design, Social Innovation and Design Activism.
This closing event promotes the mission of the Center for Design as a place and a space for interdisciplinary research at Northeastern and celebrates the conclusion of a week-long series of activities to showcase and debate design-led research projects and initiatives: Keynotes, panels, workshops and exhibitions will physically and virtually welcome Northeastern’s research community, partners and all design-related organizations to reaffirm the inextricable relationship between design as a discipline and design as a practice.
The outcomes of the World Design Impact Prize 2021 will be presented in a 90-minute World Design Talks on 23 November from 1:30pm – 3pm UTC, with the participation of DESIS International Coordinator Teresa Franqueira. It will be an opportunity to recognize the three finalist projects and learn about the ways they are using design to make a difference in communities around the world.
