The theme for this enlightening conversation is “Designers helping to make a better world” featuring Don Norman and Ezio Manzini talk about how designers can create real impact and meaningful change in the world, hosted by Ralitsa Diana Debrah, Teresa Franqueira and moderated by Cecilia Casas Romero. The session will explore how such efforts can be scaled and how they open up new professional pathways and job opportunities for designers committed to social and environmental impact.
Session Description
Over thirty years ago, in 1988, Don Norman authored The Design of Everyday Things, a landmark publication that became a global success and positioned him as a leading voice in the international design community. Now, decades and several influential books later, Don returns with Design for a Better World, a compelling call to action for designers to engage with the complex challenges facing our planet and society.
In this Conversation for the Planet, Don will share the motivations behind this new work and highlight the initiatives it has inspired, most notably, the Don Norman Design Award (DNDA). The session will explore how such efforts can be scaled and how they open up new professional pathways and job opportunities for designers committed to social and environmental impact.
